“Resilience is more of a process than an outcome”
This in-depth article by Irin News called Understanding Resilience looks at why resilience is such a difficult term to nail down with perspectives from UNDP and UNOCHA. It’s an interesting look at how there is growing shift from both development and humanitarian actors to work more closely together to tackle long-term and recurring issues by addressing root causes of vulnerability. The Global Platform will be a major policy forum to discuss these kinds of issues and as a staging point before 2015, when the UN will come together to look at what the world wants for the future and the development of a future disaster risk reduction framework to build on the Hyogo Framework for Action.
