Happy International Women’s Day! #IWD2013

Say Hi to Kiki and Sander. They’re playing a key role at UNISDR by working with members of the private sector who are ensuring the safety of long-term investments, planning ahead to protect industry and society from disasters, and ensuring business continuity. They’re also coordinating the UNISDR Private Sector Advisory Group (PSAG) and have played a big part in helping to organize the private sector to come to the Global Platform. One of the participants includes Sandra Wu, President and CEO of Kokusai Kogyo Holdings Co., Ltd., and one of the co-chairs of the PSAG, who will be part of the Day 1 plenary about private sector for resilient societies.

For Kiki, today is “an opportunity to raise awareness around empowering women, and also for women to take the opportunity to show their strength and courage in being a pillar for building a resilient and better future.”

Sander has a good question for IWD2013, “How can we tap more into the knowledge and skills of women, like Sandra Wu, who are leading companies in the private sector to build a disaster resilient future?”
