The 6th round of online dialogues for the post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction started last week and runs until Friday, 5 April. Continuing from the fifth round on ’Integrating disaster risk reduction, climate change adaption and sustainable development’, this next round focuses on the local level and the ‘Critical issues and priorities needed to address urban risks and local governance for disaster resilience’. This dialogue will be facilitated by Ms. Bernadia Irawati Tjandradewi from CITY NET.
The main questions will revolve around how we can:
- motivate Local Government leaders to invest in DRR and resilience
- encourage national actions to improve DRR implementation at local level
- enhance collaboration between citizen groups and local governments for effective risk reduction
The results of the online dialogues will help provide the substance for a post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction to be adopted at the World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in 2015.
It’s a good primer for the Global Platform which takes place in Geneva in around two months time where the post-2015 disaster risk reduction framework will be a key underlying issue that will come up throughout the week-long event.
