CATALYST project (Capacity Development for Hazard Risk Reduction and Adaptation)
Thanks to http://www.catalyst-project.eu/ for blogging with us! Knowledge exchange is a key issue that’s going to be discussed in a day-long pre-meeting consultation event.

Combining disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation
The mainstreaming of disaster risk reduction and adaptation is considered essential for efficient and effective management in response to natural hazards. The CATALYST project (Capacity Development for Hazard Risk Reduction and Adaptation) funded under the European Commission’s Framework Programme 7, is addressing this issue by promoting the exchange of knowledge among practitioners, policy advisers and academics. Together these 75 individuals representing four regions of the world, East and West Africa, Central America and the Caribbean, European Mediterranean and South and South East Asia are working as regional and multi-regional “think tanks” to expand the knowledge base and further develop capacity in these interdependent fields. The focus is on identifying transitional best practices, and knowledge gaps and barriers, as well as strengthening and extending existing networks. Through this exchange the think tank members themselves undergo a learning process, further enhance their own capacities and expand their networks. The results will be disseminated in various formats include a knowledge platform and practitioner and policy guidances. We all are looking forward to participating in the Global Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction, and sharing preliminary results on best practices.
See you soon!
