Mayors should be rewarded for DRR says Jan Eliasson, United Nations Deputy Secretary-General
Speaking with a group of 12 Mayors and Local Governments representing the Making Cities Resilient Campaign during the Global Platform, Jan Eliasson, United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, said local governments are one of the most important actors when it comes to changing the realities for people, and should be rewarded for their efforts to protect the lives and livelihoods of their communities. Mayors who address disasters before they erupt should be rewarded.“
